This weekend is the Amherst Model Railroad Show in Springfield, MA.  We’re expecting a few new N scale announcements to be made at the show, and Fox Valley Models is first out of the gate with a preview of their 2013 new models!

The biggest news is another locomotive, this time the SD70ACe series!  Modelers have been wondering if FVM would bring to market these locomotives ever since Norfolk Southern used SD70ACe’s as half of their Heritage fleet.  Fox Valley Models will now be able to offer the entire Heritage series in their line, alongside the standard Class 1 paint schemes!

B&O modelers can rejoice as well.  First, wagon top cabooses will be offered along side FVM’s wagon top boxcars.  This distinctive B&O construction method was used on cabooses as well and several body variations are planned to the delight of B&O modelers in N scale.  For the more modern B&O modeler, check out the Canstock cars.  These distinctive boxcars featured an extremely offset door location to help forklifts load canstock more efficiently.  FVM already has tooling samples in hand and these cars will arrive this summer.

In other east coast news, FVM announced a Pennsylvania H-30 covered hopper.  Also a distinctive car with their angled truss bracing and low profile, 1,325 cars were built for cement service between 1935 and 1949.  The cars had long service lives making it into Penn Central and even Conrail paint before retirement.

Finally, moving south a bit, FVM’s next fleet car is the Southern’s Silverside gondolas.  We’re told these are going to be priced for unit train service, and will have a few unique features of their own.

And just so FVM doesn’t abandon Milwaukee Road entirely, the ribside caboose will be offered with new oil modifications and modern end rails!

Sounds like a busy year for FVM!
