This 12-1 heavyweight sleeper car is grey with white and black lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger trucks. Built for Union Pacific in the early 1920s, it was later repainted into the postwar two-tone grey scheme. This car continued to serve UP through the 1960s.

Southern Pacific
RD#: SP 1776

This 31’ bay window caboose is white with blue and red stripes and runs on Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks. Built as a C-40-7 by International Car Company in 1967 for Southern Pacific, this caboose was later repainted in the 1976 bicentennial scheme, and had its tall end ladders and roofwalks removed at the same time.

Baltimore & Ohio w/ Crate Load
RD#: B&O 475514

This 50’ standard box car with 8’ double sliding door, no roofwalk and short ladders is blue with yellow lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in the mid-1940s as part of series 475500-475624, it was later rebuilt in the early 1950s with DF-2 loaders. The cars were repainted in the final Chessie System paint scheme in the mid-1970s.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe

These 2-bay covered hoppers are grey with circle cross logo and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built for Frisco in 1975 by American Car & Foundry, these were transferred to Burlington Northern in 1980 and repainted. These cars were included in the 1996 BNSF merger and joined series 405350-405575.

Union Pacific WWII POSTER SERIES CAR #6

This 50’ troop sleeper is dark green and runs on Allied Full Cushion trucks. During WWII, Union Pacific produced a variety of morale-boosting posters that depicted the railroad’s involvement in supporting the war. This car’s poster features a consist of Union Pacific flat cars carrying tanks under a starry sky.

Heinz Series – Car #11

This 36’ wood sheathed ice reefer with truss rods is brown with decorated sides and runs on Arch Bar trucks. The H.J. Heinz Company was founded in 1869 by Henry John Heinz, first manufacturing horseradish. By the early 1900s, Heinz was manufacturing over 60 food products and relied heavily on their fleet of over 700 colorful billboard boxcars to distribute their products across the country.

U.S. Army

This 39’ single dome tank car is aluminum with black lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built by GATX in 1952, it was used to transport jet fuel. Originally marked for the United States Army, this car was repainted and received its DODX reporting mark in 1965 and served through the late 1980s.

This 40’ standard box car with double doors is two-tone grey with white lettering and runs on Allied Full Cushion trucks. Built at UP’s Omaha, Nebraska shops in December of 1940, it was rebuilt in 1946 with the two-tone grey scheme. Part of a ten-car series, it was used in express service until the early 1950s when it was repainted yellow.

Owned by Japan-based transportation company APL Logistics, these 53’ corrugated containers are used to transport many types of commodities.
